Lay's has an established reputation for successfully handling photographic material, with a particular emphasis on historical photography. Amid fantastic national publicity, we recently sold the remarkable archive of the Royal photographer 'John Scott' aka Colonel Vassa Voynovich, which contained over 4000 images spanning a 40-year career.

Rare magic lantern slides are a real speciality for us and our track record selling slides such as the construction of Beachy Head lighthouse, rare Australian Aboriginal and various early Arctic and Himalayan expedition images have made us the number one auctioneers in this field in the West Country.

We regularly handle numerous posters and have gathered significant experience of the years as well as enjoying many successes. A great example is the Bendell-Bayly collection of original designs and wartime posters; almost every one of the 91 lots exceeding its estimate after extensive promotion in the national press. Deco travel posters are also a great favourite at Lay’s and we have a proven track record of success promoting and selling these fabulous graphic works.
