Buying

Buying with David Lay auctions is very simple.  After satisfying yourself as to the condition of the lot you wish to purchase, all you need to do is register for a paddle number, and then notify us as to how you wish to bid: on the day, by telephone, online, or leave a commission bid.  If you have not bid with us before, we may ask for some card details before you bid.  Have a look at our ‘How it Works’ page for step by step instructions.

Our commission for all sales is 18%, with VAT on top of that commission (approximately 21% all in).

If your bids are successful and after you have paid for your purchases, you will need to collect your items.  All purchased items from the Household & General sale must be collected by 4pm of the next working day as we are unable to store sold items. From the specialist sales, please collect purchases promptly (maximum two weeks). If you are unable to collect, packing and shipping can be arranged. There is an independent pack and send service operating from our premises. Please use the following link: http://www.delivery-to-you.co.uk This service is not available for Fine Art sales.

For larger items we do not offer a postage and packaging service, but can recommend a number of carriers. Please see our ‘How It Works, Post Sale’ page.
